We’re animal creatures! For all our fancy pants language and cognitive superpowers, at the end of the day we are still physical creatures with a sensory experience of ourselves and the world, a sensory experience which these days may be a bit different than what we were used to before COVID-19.
Has it been too long since…
- your last therapeutic massage?
- you’ve experienced kind, intentional touch?
- you’ve felt relief for tight and knotted up spots in your body?
Many of us are finding it harder than usual to experience a sense of comfort and wellbeing during these days when we are isolating and working from home, and practicing physical distancing. And yet being able to rest and relax remains as important as ever!
Are you isolating at home with others?
Therapeutic Pair/Partner-Massage Class
I am delighted to invite you and a partner (and actually anyone in your household who shares internet connection) to join me for a class in which I will guide you in massaging key areas of tension on each other, including (but not limited to) your shoulders, jaw, scalp/face, arms, and hands.
This will be a clothed-massage session. Also, kid-friendly. (Actually, your kid may like to participate!)
No previous massaging experience is necessary.
What effect(s) can I expect from taking this class?
- Learn some techniques of therapeutic touch to help the body relax
- Feel more comfortable and at ease in your body | Facilitate your partner feeling more at ease in their body
- Experience a sense of grounding and calm
Registering for Class
Payment = Registration. (You will be sent an email containing your link to join the class once you register/pay. If you don’t get that email within a few minutes, check your spam folder.)
I have a kid (or partner/roommate/family): can he/she/they join me?
Absolutely. Actually, for this class you will need to be paired!
Your payment/registration is valid for anyone in your household sharing internet connection with you.
Can I buy classes for others?
Yes! Feel free to buy more than one class (select the number of classes you want to purchase) and then forward the email containing the access link to whomever you are gifting the class. (Thank you! I really appreciate it.)
What should I have or bring for the class?
You’ll need a good internet connection.
Be sure to be in a comfortable place where you can relax.
Wear something comfy (a T-shirt is great). If you plan to use oil, wear something you won’t mind if a bit of oil gets on.
I recommend bringing: 1) a towel; 2) bed pillows; 3) if you like (though not required), oil* or lotion of your choice; and 4) a cork (not required, but may be helpful during jaw massage — and yes, a wine bottle cork will do just fine)
* I love coconut oil or jojoba oil. If you don’t have these, you can certainly use an oil from your kitchen. I promise! (You won’t need much!)
Class Structure & Logistics
We’ll be using Zoom videoconferencing for this online class. In this format, you will see me, your teacher/host, and whoever else choses to be visible during the class. You will be able to ask questions and interact with me during several portions of the class.
There will be others on the class. However, you will have the choice to be visible or hidden from others. (You will always be able to see me.)
Although it is highly preferable to attend class in person, if you and your partner can’t attend, the class will be recorded and sent to registered participants approximately one week following the course.
Schedule/Time
Thursday, 14 May 2020, 6:30 – 7:45 PM Eastern US Time / 3:30 – 4:45 PM Pacific US Time (Find your local time)
I will arrive and be in the Zoom room approximately 10 minutes early. Feel free to arrive early and get acclimated with Zoom or just say hi before class starts.
About Me
Heidi Fischbach, EdM, LMT is a licensed and nationally certified massage therapist. She has been massaging people and helping them feel more relaxed and at ease inside themselves for 15 years.
On March 17 she temporarily closed her office for therapeutic massage in order to observe physical distancing precautions and help prevent the spread of COVID-19. One month in, she’s missing her clients (and their bodies!) something terrible. (Secretly, this class is just as much for Heidi as it is for you. She hopes you’ll join her!)
