Description
The Pause: Body-oriented Meditation
- Do you find yourself reacting to stressful situations in ways you later regret?
- Do things feel like “too much” and is an agitated nervous system keeping you from resting and relaxing?
- Or maybe stress is making you want to just shut down and hide… indefinitely?
Schedule:
The Pause is on hiatus this summer
What you can expect:
- Grounding and calm, even during challenging times
- Support and nurture, a place where your nervous system can find steadiness and rest
- Guidance on tuning in and listening to your body’s knowing
No long term commitment is required. (Come once and give it a try! If you like it, come back every time, a couple times a week, or just when you can.)
Regulars at The Pause report feeling calmer and more curious in situations where they used to feel automatically triggered and reactive. (Don’t take their word for it. Come find out for yourself!)
An internet connection is your only requirement. (No previous meditation or Focusing experience is necessary.)
Classes are held virtually, via Zoom. (You will be sent a link to access the class once you register/pay.)
What is Body-Oriented Meditation anyway?
Body-oriented meditation is a combination of Focusing (a body-oriented awareness process) and simple, non-religious meditation.
At The Pause we practice turning kind and friendly attention toward ourselves and the world. In this way, change is facilitated, rather than forced. In other words, change arises from within you rather than being imposed from a stance of willpower or “should.”
Think of Focusing as a deep kind of listening below the everyday surface noise of thoughts and habits.
Focusing-oriented meditation does not replace any other form of meditation you may enjoy or be trained in — it’s a complementary practice that can be especially helpful in cultivating a kinder and friendlier experience of yourself.
Class Structure & Logistics
Each class starts with a brief check-in, followed by an attunement to help your nervous system feel safe and steady so that you can turn toward your experience with friendly curiosity. Then there is a quiet time in which we practice meditating and being with ourselves in a friendly and compassionate manner. Finally, there is opportunity for reflections from class members (entirely optional) and questions.
Class is 45 minutes long. Each class is a bit different in content, but the basic structure remains the same.
What’s it like in a virtual Zoom room?
Zoom offers you the option of being visible to others, or of remaining invisible and muted, even while knowing that you are part of a group of people meeting for class.
You will always see me, Heidi. You may also, if you’d like, see other participants who have chosen to be visible. In short: you can be as visible or as anonymous as you like.
Registration/Payment
Payment = Registration! (If you have a coupon code for your first free class: select “1” –> press “view cart” –> enter your coupon code –> press “apply coupon” –> press “complete your purchase”)

Calm in the middle of the day… I love this class. I think of it like a yoga class for my insides. It’s the same kind of practiced ease, focus and relaxation. I am finding it very helpful in creating more space for all the things and all the activation.

I wish my schedule let me join Heidi’s meditation group every day. I come away from each session I attend enriched by the interior peace it brings, nuggets of wisdom, or thoughtful questions to grow on. And sometimes all three. I love Heidi’s gentle, perceptive spirit as she guides us. A big winner for me.

I really enjoy the gentleness of the quiet time together, somehow softer with myself than in formal meditation practice. In the space that Heidi (& the group) creates, something can unwind within me. I value the opportunity to check in with myself and afterwards to check in together. And I appreciate that I can drop in occasionally or regularly, depending on what suits.

Heidi’s PAUSE meditation is a wonderful break during the day to stop, slow down and think/feel about how you’re feeling so far in your day. It gives you time to work on what may have been spinning around in your head that may be bogging down, so you can reorient, re-ground, and put a fresh spin on your attitude and afternoon.
