Heidi, this is the Deepa you met in a poetry workshop a few years back. I was just googling “The Art of Disappearing” and I found your post. You are such a lovely writer – funny and playful and real, just like you are in person. I have no idea who you are or what you’ve been through. As a member of the opposite gender I don’t even have breasts of my own to cherish (although I like to think I cherish all those I see) I did, however, love the story and the empowerment within. Good luck with the follow up, I look forward to reading about it.

what a beautiful, brilliant post! i love the way you interacted with all these doctors, bringing out their humanity. that’s a gift.

i had to have a biopsy done a few years ago. it was scary (the anticipation, not the procedure), but it all turned out ok. i’m sending loving thoughts your way. xo

Oh, Heidi, what a stressful time you’re having with your beauteous boobies! And how wonderful to touch your need to write. And how wonderful your writing is in describing your experiences.

More than once, I’ve entertained a fantasy of introducing the testicles of the inventor of that nasty machine to his machine, in hopes that he might consider some design modifications.

Meanwhile: Cheers for your courage in sharing so well and so beautifully. Encouragement to keep writing about it all. And lots of love to wrap around your sweet self.

I’m also eager to meet the Night Queen personally. She sounds like my kind of gal.

Delightful take on a difficult day. Just as an FYI, some 90+% of breast biopsies are negative. That said, you are in my thoughts.
